Voavanga
A Voavanga is a fruit that is also known as Spanish tamarind. It is a round fruit (around 4cm in diameter), that is green with white dots, and turns brown when fully ripe. The pulp is moderately juicy, with a slightly acidic flavour. What is interesting is that despite the alternate name of Spanish tamarind it is actually a shrubby tree found in Madagascar that is occasionally cultivated for its edible fruit that is generally eaten fresh.
