Endive
Endives are salad leaf vegetables, often confused with chicory as they are close cousins and considered to be members of the same family. There are two types of endive, the narrow-leaved endive called curly endive and the broad-leaved endive which is commonly referred to as escarole. Greatly loved by the French, endive is a popular addition to salads as it adds texture and a little ‘bite’ to the flavour.
