Top Tips

  • Men’s Tips
  • If you're travelling for business and you can pre-order menu options on flights or at a conference, amp up your veggie intake by choosing a vegetarian dish.
  • Be adventurous! Many men suffer from a lack of variety in their daily diets. By eating the same foods every day, you may be missing out on important vitamins and minerals. Try adding new vegetables and fruit your daily diet.
  • Have a goal. Start with small goals you can achieve easily, and then set larger goals as you go. For example, start by eating one extra serving of fruit or vegetables a day. Your next goal could be to include an extra serving of vegetables or fruit at most meals. Before you know it, you will have reached your 5-a-Day goal!
  • Worried about your high blood pressure? Potassium may help to maintain a healthy blood pressure so add good sources of potassium such as sweet potato, tomato paste, potato, white beans, prune and carrot juice to your daily diet.
  • Business lunches weighing you down? Choose a baked potato instead of chips or rice, and ask for a side salad.
  • Slice, dice, cook or eat them raw but make sure that tomatoes form part of your diet as their lycopene content seems to reduce levels of cancer especially in the lungs and prostate.
  • Add mushrooms, corn-on-the-cob or vegetable kebabs to the braai menu and serve a tomato and onion gravy with the pap or potatoes.
  • Grab a piece of fruit or a handful of rasins for that energy boost before your gym work out
  • Be creative and end off your meal with a fresh fruit salad dessert of apples, melons and pears (and anything else you wish to add).s
